Ancient Anguish
As you may have read on my Stargirl page, AA is a Multi User Dungeon (MUD) - a text-based virtual world where people can go and kill shit, talk and get up to all sorts of other mischief!
Its client addy is ancient.anguish.org Port:2222 (for telnet/Pueblo/Zmud). Our MUD in particular is medieval-based, though roleplaying is not really required. More detailed info can be found at the official site here.
AA doesn't have a huge no. of classes, guilds, or tons of players but it will always be close to my heart as I made so many friends there. I played from Nov 97 to June/July 2002. I am only now meeting some of the people who were such a huge part of my life over that time. More about meetings coming soon.
Learn about Stargirl here. Char list here.
Anyway, moving on. AA has these classes:
- Mages
- Clerics
- Rogues? hmm.
- Rangers
- Paladins
- Fighters
- Necromancers
- Adventurers
- Shapeshifters (added Oct 2000)
Yes there are thieves on AA. If you catch them in the act of stealing from you, you may put 'em up for a bounty. There's always a lot of debate about rogue situations.
Harrassment has never gone quietly in AA. The law team hate it, so if you come to AA, be nice to the friendly people on there and don't cause too many problems. If you're looking for an answer, at least try and figure it out yourself before you bug your guild line incessantly or shout constantly.
It's very newbie-friendly most of the time and hey, I'm more than happy to take you under my wing and/or help if I'm around (which is rare now as I've stopped really playing!). But read the help files and don't be too annoying with tons of questions - you will get a lot more respect if you try and explore and figure things out on your own. New: Newbie line - pick up a carving from Willim!
Most of the other classes are fairly self-explanatory but to find out more about the classes on AA, go to http://www.anguish.org .
AA has these fantastic guilds:
- The Monks
- The Bears
- Chaos
- Scythe
- The Knights
- The Ravens
- The houses of Eldar
I was a member of the Monks for a long time - they were the nicest, funniest, just the best group of people I had ever met. Most of the regulars left, however, and moved either out of the game or into Eldar and I ended up hopping into Eldar too after a little while.
The Eldar are a hilarious bunch of people. I was in them right up until I left (and still pop in occasionally, the majority of my friends who are still playing are Eldar). StarGirL still remains an eldar.
The bears, too, are really neat people. I was a bear for ages as Analei and my newest bear incarnation (who won't be purged this time due to my mad donation skillzzz!) is ZaiaH.
Chaos, chaos, chaos. If you want a lot of fun, and a little play on the evil side join Chaos. You'll soon meet Malik, the child torturer and learn to cackle like never before. I was in chaos for a little while and I found them to be an... interesting group of people!
Scythe has a great deal where you can have your own personal room for 15k. I had one and when my char went (Bressa), so did my beautiful room.
I liked the people though, very different.
The knights is the first guild i ever went to. I was there as Georgia for a year and a half (97-late 98) and I kept into my advancing. Now it's more of a social place for me.
I only had a Raven char briefly.. Marysia. Raven is made up of mostly SK members. Wasn't my thing, but I have nothing against it or the people. :)
