ALBUMS OF THE MONTH

In a moment of idiocy, I forgot to copy May's reviews over before I put the new ones on. I'll have to re-write.

::March/April::

RECOMMENDED ALBUMS OF THE MONTH:
Liz Phair - Liz Phair

Well when Liz teamed up with 'the Matrix', the songwriters famous for the hits of Avril Lavigne among others, I wasn't sure what to expect. But the end result is classic Phair: lyrics with a punch over her rocky guitar riffs. These songs are just catchier! Favorites: Rock Me, Love Hate, Extroadinary, Why Can't I.

Sugababes - Angels With Dirty Faces

These girls are the best thing pop has to offer. Extremely talented vocalists with fantastically funky, down and dirty pop songs with groovy beats, loads of harmony and the best use of electronica in pop I've heard yet. Amazon says: "[this album] infuses UK garage, R&B, hip-hop & electro-pop." Pity they lump them in with the nightmarish Atomic Kitten. Also check out their new album, Three. Favourites: Stronger, Shape, Angels with Dirty Faces, Round Round.

::February::

RECOMMENDED ALBUMS OF THE MONTH:
Athlete - Vehicles & Animals

Gorgeously-written pop rock laced with jaunty guitars and excellent vocal melodies, this album is a must for your collection. Favorites: El Salvador, Beautiful, You Got the Style, Vehicles & Animals.

Sarah Slean - Night Bugs

With rich, colourful melody, a beautiful voice and excellent piano, Slean is a true musician. Her songs are confessional, heartfelt and at times very theatrical, but she is also not afraid to keep it simple. One of my all-time favourite albums. Favourites: Sweet Ones, Duncan, Weight, Book Smart Street Stupid, Drastic Measures. But all tracks are songwriting gems!
